Edge Hair Coloring

Edge Hair Coloring Overview

This feature is only available when running the software in dual mask mode. It allows you to optimize and fine tune the color and brightness of the edges hair. This is really helpful when blending the image into a dark or light background. Since strands of hair are sub-pixel resolution, they tend to take on the color and brightness of the background. Spill correction can usually remove spill color. However, when putting the image into a bright or dark background, the stray edge hair are often under or overexposed compared to the background behind it due to the hair being illuminated by the green screen. The edge hair coloring menu allows you to blend the color and lighting of the hair into any background!

1 - Brightness Shift: This shifts the brightness of the edge hair. Negative values darken the edge hair and positive values brighten the edge hair. This is very useful to help blend extractions into a very dark or very bright background.

2 - Brightness Blending Width: The number of pixels in from the edge that are affected by the brightness shift. This is affected is also feathered so it blends better.

3 - Color Blend Opacity: This blends color back into the image. It is turned zero by default so it is off unless you turn this value up. The default blending color is 25 degree hue with medium saturation and brightness. This uses color blending mode so it does not affect the brightness. The default color works OK for most hair colors.

4 - Color Blending Width: The number of pixels in from the edge that are affected by the color blending. This is affected is also feathered so it blends better.

5 - Change Hair Blending Color: Allows you to select a custom blending color to exactly match the hair color.
